Visit the impressive Fort Island
Fort Island IJmuiden is a 19th century defensive structure and a Unesco world heritage site. During the Second World War it was part of the Atlantic Wall. On the public days mentioned below experienced guides will be happy to show you around this impressive fortifications.
We offer two different excursions to the Fort Island: with or without a boat trip. Below you can read more about the options. You can order your tickets online, or by telephone.
Fort Island is closed until further notice. The dates for 2022 will be published here as soon as they are available to us.
Corona measures while visiting
Due to the Corona virus the maximum number of (adult) passengers will be 60 persons per trip, so book your tickets asap. Due to corona measures, there are no guides to accompany you, but you are allowed to walk around the Fort Island yourself. There is one-way traffic. Points of interest have a QR code.
You can enjoy a home-grown snack and drink in the dome room of the fort or on the adjoining outdoor terrace. Disabled persons should take into account that the fort is not easily accessible everywhere.
Any other corona measures are indicated on the boat and on the Fort Island.
1. Public Day Forteiland
Using a map, you can explore the many dark hallways and rooms of these fortifications. There is an option for a guided tour, subject to availability. The excursion to the island takes at least two hours.

2. Public Day Forteiland + boat tour
The tour of Forteiland (Fort Island) will be preceded or followed by a boat tour of approximately one hour, of the ports and on the North Sea toward Zandvoort or the wind farm off the coast of Egmond. During the tour, the captain will tell you all about the activities in the ports and the various sights along the way.
